Today, 19 December 2023, in the cold and mist, four of the ten trees that had not survived last winter and spring's drought in the Jardin du Pont des Iles were replaced. The Summer Tamarisk (Tamarix ramosissima), the Golden Rain Cytise (Laburnum watereri), the Scots Pine (Pinus sylvestris), and the Silk Tree (Albizia julibrissin). Let's hope that the cold and high humidity of this winter allow these trees to root well.
The last six trees to be replaced, an American Copalm (Liquidambar styraciflua), a Yellow Wood Virgil (Cladastris lutea), two Savon trees (Koelreuteria paniculata), a Handkerchief tree (Davidia involucrata), and an Apple tree (Malus toringo) will be replanted at the beginning of 2024, at the same time as the three new trees on the Arbère pond (Amelanchier - Amelanchier canadensis ; Sophora of Japan - Sophora sinensis; Micocoulier of Japan - Celtis sinensis).
